I was lucky enough to be asked to come back and reprise my role as Jazz in the workshop performance of Folk City this past February. With new re-writes, plot changes and new music this phase of the folk musical was an incredible journey. Two weeks of rehearsals and three sold out performances, with added standing room, the buzz around this show is starting to gain momentum.
With new cast members, George Anthony Papas as Ernie and Raphael Shapiro as Tony, the show has been brought to new heights. Director David Marquez did wonders within the two weeks to create the folk music world of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s in the Cino Theater at Theater for the New City. With the show leaning towards the immersive, audience members sit in an actual club, tables with seating and an actual bar serving drinks, while actors live and perform all around them to create a unique experience akin to the original Folk City in Greenwich Village. With great feedback and a growing fanbase the show, Folk City: The Musical looks promising. Check back here for updates and details!
